Corfe Mullen is a village in Dorset, England. As a parish it is one of the largest in the country. It is close to the beaches of SANDBANKS, BOURNEMOUTH & POOLE HARBOUR the home of Scouting. We have A 900 year old church dedicated to St. Hubert and a very modern church dedicated to St. Nicholas. Both these churches are part of the Church of England's Salisbury Diocese. We also have four churches of other denominations in the village.
Every year we have a carnival on the second Saturday in June. This is usually well supported by everyone. We have a procession with both youth organisations and business entering floats. Also in the parade we usually have several walking themes, bands & majorettes.
The village has 4 pubs, The Dorset Soldier, The Mount Pleasant, The Holm Bush and the Coventry Arms. All serve meals. Not bad either!! As well as the pubs a couple of restaurants are available for eating out The Lambs Green and an Indian restaurant called Taj. We also have a Fish & Chip (Harlees) shop.
We have two sub-post offices, several shops including a Video Library, Florist, several Ladies Hair Salons, 2 Estate Agents, a Chemist (The Pharmacy), 2 Mini Markets and a Co-Op Supermarket. For the children there are two first schools, Rushcomb & Henbury, a middle school, Lockyers and Corfe Hills, a senior school with a sixth form. There is also a private school, Castle Court. Being a semi rural area there are many horses in the village and the owners are supported by a business named Horse Bits near Hillview Post Office. Pets are catered for by Bits & Bobs for Pets.
Car Drivers can fill up at Windgreen Garage where you can also give your car a shampoo and also purchase bottled gas and bags of coal. The garage is also a mini market. To purchase a car, a car sales forecourt is also available next to the fish'n'chip shop.
The village also has a branch of the Royal British Legion, a Youth Club, Village Hall, Library, Church Hall, Recreation Ground with Brownie Guide and Scout Headquarters. The local Library is next to the Co-Op and has free internet access for those without this facility at home. All widely supported.
The Parish Council is behind the many villagers who wish to have the local speed limits enforced and the many violaters warned or prosecuted if they fail to comply. Several petitions have been put together by different areas to make the point more strongly. Speed limits are only of use, if they are enforced.
